Bad experience with Pittman and staff. Not at all recommended.
Pittman and many other dental providers are too implant-happy. It's a lot more than just pocket money for them. In most instances it's not necessary and most dental insurance does not cover the procedure.
Dr. Pittman has been our family dentist for thirty years. We have found him to be a competent caring dentist who has always addressed our needs appropriately. We do not have dental insurance and we feel that his procedures and costs have been reasonable. His dental assistant Gloria has been with him for many years and together they make you feel comfortable and confident during visits.
I had made Dr Pittman aware that I have been taking a medication for osteoporosis for many years, a drug that makes the patient more susceptible to bone infection.
After having a teeth cleaning by Dr Pittman's offic, I sought another dentist, Dr. James Crowther, in nearby Orange City who actually spent time consulting me on alternatives other than implants. Time-tested and true.... I have had one ROOT CANAL done with another suggested when I feel it necessary because I'm not having any discomfort at all.
I had seen another dentist in De Land who advised me a dental implant was necessary, a cost that was nothing short of prohibitive because I'm not rich - implants cost about $3,000.00 each. I sought a second opinion from Dr Pittman, advising him I had to have another option such as dentures. He refused to consider dentures. He found a need for THREE IMPLANTS!
Dr Pittman could also tell by simply examining my mouth that advanced gum disease had required a number of teeth to be extracted and there is a tremendous amount of additional bone loss.
