Great nature surroundings and building structures. Me and my family came to a graduation and all the staff was very nice and organize at the beginning but they lost control because the place got to full. But they tried to handle the best of their abilities.
Also, for college students seeking grad school admissions, beware. In my pursuit of a master's program, after graduation, I contacted about a dozen professors, of which only one gave me a recommendation. The others said they essentially said were too busy or led me on to believe they were going to give me a recommendation, then backed out. For a school that is so small and expensive and prides itself on "personalized attention", they certainly did not help me post-college.
Despite the beautiful campus and aggressive advertising propaganda the university rolls out, Stetson is a fundamentally lacking and troubled school. As an undergrad at the college of arts and sciences, I had several significant negative experiences. The professors range from good to terrible, with seemingly many more bad professors than good ones. There are several especially terrible professors who I fill the need to mention so students who are stuck going here will be spared the misfortune of attending one of their classes . Tara Schuwerk (communications)-she is extremely rude and does not seem to care about students. She gives students terrible grades after hard work and seems to get a masochistic thrill from it. Mario Rodriguez (communications)-He is extremely bad tempered, seems to get mad at students constantly for no reason (maybe he does not want to be teaching there). I get the feeling Stetson hired him for his Ivy League pedigree rather than any genuine passion or interest in teaching. Shawrence Campbell-she is profoundly disorganized and seems to harbor ill will, especially at certain kinds of students.
It's a really gorgeous campus with unique and beautiful buildings. The people are kind and helpful. It's a smaller campus but it seems to be located in a good area, not too far from Orlando. There's some good family owned restaurants in the area that are excellent to go to.
Beautiful campus, excellent educators, steeped in tradition, music school is above par.... needs more parking though. My kids love it.
The administration itself is aloof and distant. They give you attitude for simple things like asking when grades come out and dropping a class. I had a few good memories at Stetson and it is not all bad, but do not believe their propaganda and think hard before coming to this school.
I had the greatest experience attending Stetson. I received a great education and gained friends for a lifetime! I definitely recommend visiting the campus in Deland - it's a gorgeous campus and awesome town! You will love it!
